Travelling to Taiwan Questions & Tips
The Melanesian island group of Santa Cruz lies southeast of the Solomon Islands group and north of Vanuatu. Santa Cruz is administered as part of the Solomon Islands, but biologically shares more in common with Vanuatu. Only thing is rather 剝皮辣椒 early departure from Taipei to Sydney . Sorry if this has been covered, but whats the general pricing for alcohol like in taiwan, at resturants/clubs/bars etc. Anyway, i came here from Kaosiung, i just stayed there 1 day.
Plenty of events, a great live music scene, fascinating history and some brilliant museums and galleries. I'd definitely go back given half a chance and Taroko Gorge and Sun-Moon Lake are places highly recommended to hit up. Went there on a couple of school excursions and it was really amazing... It's one of the few places I've visited where I've thought that I could live in the future, and I don't even speak any Taiwanese or Mandarin... In the cities you can always snag a drink of grab a taxi.
These classic dishes are highly recommended by the locals. If you want to do some exploring, add a trip to Guanshan to your plan. This destination is 9 kilometres to the southwest and is home to the Guanshan Tianho Temple and Guanshan Water Park.
Today we will be heading to the Taiwan-round island tour in central Taipei, we will head to the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area located in the center of the island. This largest freshwater lake in Taiwan is divided into two parts resembling the sun and crescent moon, with the surrounding area being the home of the indigenous Thao people. Enjoy a bus tour of the lake after lunch, visiting popular sites like the Ita Thao indigenous village and several prominent landmarks, including the Ci’en Pagoda, Xuanzang Temple, and Wenwu Temple.
From a cursory glance at the map the vast majority are concentrated on the west side of the island. The east side appears to be mainly forested hills and mountains. Still on the east side of the island we pass by or through Yilin, Luodong and Hualien all seemingly significant cities. Sun Yat-sen was first president of the Republic of China from 1919 to and the first leader of the Kuomintang the Nationalist Party of China.
Getting nearly back to the car we see the Sheraton Hotel and poke our nose in hoping they have a restaurant. Turns out they have two and we have a decent meal in their Chinese Restaurant. We stop next at Sanxiantai, an area containing three islands located on the coast and joined to the mainland by a long footbridge in the shape of a sea dragon. Anna reminds of Penglai in Shandong, but here the name Sanxiantai means “three immortals platform”, referring to the island with three large standing rocks. We walk out to and onto the bridge for photos, but don’t go far as the rain starts again. We head home for a late afternoon snooze in the Grand and tonight take the shuttle bus down to the Shilin Night Market.
I wanted to go there but had no time, i remember there being a public area and there's private rooms too i think. It's the main or most visited hot spring i guess in Taiwan since it's close to Taipei...there are others ones around the country in the mountains but not too sure. The nature side of Taipei was pretty impressive, too.
You can train it or bus it here from Taipei using the easy card. They have a really good night market and you can also use this city as a staging point for touring Taoyuan county. There is also a tourist bus operating from the bus station that operates like a hop on hop off service which will take you to some interesting places.
