It’s much better to spend two days making this trip, spending the night somewhere in southern Hualien County or Taitung along the way. Below, I’ll cover all the best places on both highways to spend the night. In addition to popular hot spring areas, there are also scenic outdoor spots across the island where you can have a relaxing dip while enjoying some outdoor activities. Probably the most famous park in Taitung, Taitung Forest Park is a nice place to go for a stroll and a top tourist spot.

Jinfeng Township is one of the major spots along the tour route. Well-trained indigenous guides now show the world Taimali’s special ecology that’s colored by Paiwan culture. Hot springs are also an important tourist attraction in Jinfeng.
Jianshi is a large, remote district of Hsinchu County that is primarily inhabited by Atayal aboriginals. Both are located at the base of the mountains a short drive west of Sanxing (三星), a little village known far and wide for its delicious green onion cakes. There’s a good chance you’ll have the hot springs all to yourself like we did when we visited. A whole cuisine has developed around hot springs in Taiwan. Generally, this food is served in hot spring hotels and meant to be enjoyed after a soak.

There is a balcony where you can sit and chat and watch the scenery. It is a pity that the soundproofing effect of the room is not good and needs to be improved. The "Zhiben Hot Springs" generally known by the public is located in outer hot spring area. It is convenient to get accommodation or enjoy hot spring spa. Now the inner hot spring area and the outer hot spring area have expanded and joined together. However, the inner hot spring area is close to Zhiben Forestry Park and its scenery is even better.
