The café has recently been refurbished and includes our newly restored 1898 Bechstein grand piano. We are open between the hours of 8am to 2pm from Monday to Friday. We promise we won’t fill your inbox with fluffy white rice.
The grain of the eel wasn’t as fine as  some others (e.g. Itamae Sushi), but I’d still definitely order one of these again because unagi is normally more expensive at other sushi restaurants. At this point I sat at the sushi train for about 5 minutes trying to decide if I should eat more or not. The seared scallop and salmon box sushi was built quite tall so I couldn’t fit it all in my mouth in one go. I probably should have tried eating them together to see what they tasted like. ‘Engawa’ normally refers to the part of the flounder adjacent to the fin.

Two private dining rooms, Hachi and Hotaru, accommodate eight and 16 guests respectively. You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy one of the RedBalloon cooking lessons as a 3.5 hour Japanese cooking lesson starts at $125. You can also find cooking classes for 2 people that are all within budget.

Canton & hokkien noodles may contain egg, please check with restaurant and ask to swap to a rice noodle if required. Additionally, due to the traditional recipes of some dishes egg may also be included, please check with restaurant and ask to have removed if required. While there's an expected abundance of great banh mi in Flemington, it's at Minh's in neighbouring Moonee Ponds where you'll find one of Melbourne's best. Served in mottle-crusted tiger rolls instead of the more traditional short white baguette, and with filling options ranging from barbecued chicken or pork to cheese, Minh's banh mi are fresh, fragrant and utterly delicious.
Perch at the counter for nine theatrical courses, expertly paired with sake from across Japan, or commandeer the eight-person private dining room. The signature ramen comes with the aforementioned broth and your choice of charred pork or chicken chashu. There’s also a decadent truffle version; a miso-packed vegan option with  a base of shiitake and soy; and a rich, extremely popular lobster ramen made with SA lobster and crowned with a baby lobster tail.

The pair make only one batch a week and it’s first in, first served. The Clocktower Centre is located in the heart of a vibrant hub of great restaurants and bars - perfect for making the most out of your night. The menu has been designed to reflect the seasons, and balance modern and traditional Japanese cuisine. There are banquet and a la carte teppanyaki menus, and a lighter menu for lunch time. The four private teppanyaki rooms serve 6, 8, 8 and 12 guests.
This was my favourite dish of the night, and for affordable sushi Kaneda is an excellent choice. Different from the traditional buffet present all food on the table, every dish at Okami is freshly made to order and served to the table. The portion size varies from the number of the group and is designed to share, so you can try more without being stuffed just after a few dishes.
