Exclusive: Jeremy Piven

The truth is, he is a different person when we compare his pictures from the mid to late 90s and now, as in a good way with more hair and certainly looking sharper. But then, when he landed the prestigious part of Ari Gold, the vicious agent on Entourage, his hairline mysteriously changed, his hair lengthened, and his shiny forehead was no longer the center of attention. Who hasn’t heard of Ari Gold, the star of Entourage, who was so expertly portrayed by the skilled and animated Hollywood actor Jeremy Piven? We all know that the celeb and charisma narrative works best when the rich’n famous take care of themselves, physically and mentally, portraying their best selves for the public.

Contents Early years Piven was born in Manhattan, New York City, and grew up in Evanston, Illinois, a suburb north of Chicago. He graduated from Evanston Township High School, and attended Harand Theater Camp in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, as a teenager. He played  the part of "Bernardo" in West Side Story there. In Illinois, he trained at Piven Theatre Workshop, founded by his parents, Byrne Piven and Joyce Hiller Piven (née Goldstein), both of whom were actors and drama teachers.

‘Ari Gold’ in ‘Entourage,’ which aired from 2004 until 2011, is one of his best parts to date. The series was a great sensation in the United States, and his performance as ‘Gold’ earned him multiple Emmy nominations and awards. "I just want to know, we will figure out a hashtag," he added. (Might I suggest #GoForAriGold, Mr. Piven?) Piven also mentioned that if a spinoff happened, he'd bring along Lloyd, Ari's assistant/protege, played by Rex Lee. The episode "Secrets & Ellen" is part of a crossover with Grace Under Fire, Coach, and The Drew Carey Show set in Las Vegas.
"I had no idea playing this abrasive, brash agent would draw so much attention. I mean, because of Ari Gold, I won the Fresh Face of the Year award." He chuckles at the thought. Jeremy Piven has been cast as the lead in the upcoming supernatural gladiator actioner, Fight for Your Life. The film, directed by Luke Sparke, follows the story of a retired boxer who finds himself drawn into a mysterious martial arts underworld.
Ari expresses confidence to Vince of a looming comeback, but later confides in Mark Wahlberg that Vince's chances are only 50/50. Ari arranges a meeting between Vince and Cameron, but is accidentally undermined by Eric who simultaneously convinces Cameron to see Queen's Boulevard, which is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. Cameron cancels the meeting, opting to view the film instead, leaving Ari angry with Eric. Cameron leaves the Queen's Boulevard screening 10 minutes into the film, and Ari is convinced Aquaman is lost. Shortly after, Ari calls Vince and conferences in Cameron who offers Vince the lead in Aquaman. The Entourage movie has qualified for a California tax credit, but in order to take advantage of it — something Warners has deemed a condition of the film being made — production needs to begin soon.

Amongst Canadian comedians, Yuks is a controversial topic. Some comedians believe it has been terrible for Canadian comedy, others believe it’s been bad for Canadian comedy. When you sign with Yuks you aren’t allowed to perform at any other clubs in cities where a Yuks exist. As well, any major festival appearances you book or independent gigs you pick up are expected to be reported so they can have their cut, though there is varied amount of leeway here. This is all with no guarantee to you of steady work or pay. You are basically treated like an independent contractor, minus the independence.
Now that Vince is officially slated to star in "Aquaman," the next order of business is to choose his "Aquagirl" for the film. Several A-list actresses are up for the role, with Mandy Moore, a former flame of Vince's, on the short-list. Vince doesn't think casting his ex- would be problematic, but after having dinner with her - and learning that she's  engaged to be married -- he asks Eric to keep her out the film. Drama, meanwhile, endures a difficult audition , but ends up landing a great role. Adrian Grenier plays Hollywood up-and-comer Vincent Chase, whose agent, brother, and friends help him navigate the ins and outs of film-stardom. Also starring Jeremy Piven, Kevin Dillon, Kevin Connolly and Jerry Ferrara.

This leads to frequent verbal clashes between Eric and Ari. While neither particularly likes the other, they realize that they are in a marriage of necessity. But as time passes, they grow to have a mutual respect for one another, which eventually leads to them becoming friends with Ari mentoring Eric as he becomes a talent manager. In spite of making multiple exaggerations of a sister to whom he has referred as crazy, Ari also stated that he does not have a sister. Despite his position as one of the most powerful agents in Hollywood, Ari's aggressive and sometimes boorish behavior is frequently held in check by his wife . Despite frequent sexual innuendos, Ari has never cheated on his wife since they married.
"There's been so much that has happened since then that it'd be a very fertile ground to explore." Mr. Macy is more than 15 years older than Mr. Piven and Mr. Butz. He is also the most naturally fluent in Mr. Mamet’s splintered, revved-up dialogue, having practiced it onstage for decades. (I have seen him in Mr. Mamet’s “American Buffalo” and, unforgettably, in “Oleanna.”) When he speaks his first lines, it’s with an even-voiced affectlessness that is classic Mamet performance style. For the record, Mr. Piven, Mr. Butz and Mr. Macy are nothing like one another. And while they have all spoken the same lines and maintained the same essential, dizzying momentum, they have still created separate but equal Bobby Goulds who, every time, made me think about who exactly this guy was and where he was coming from.

But it’s impossible to watch PBS’ Masterpiece Classic miniseries Mr. Selfridge and not conclude that he’s miscast here.
